Hello everybody! For those who haven't heard yet, tomorrow September 22 at 10:21 is the autumn equinox and what that means basically is this is one of 2 days of the year when there is equal light time and equal dark time. We just came from the summer solstice where there was more light than dark, and now we are about to head into a time where there will be more dark than light. In following with honoring the cycles of the earth within ourselves, this is a powerful time for ritual and meditative exploration of our selves and our past year. John and I are going to hold a little ritual gathering tomorrow night around 10pm to honor the equinox.
Some things to think about:
Autumn is also a harvesting time so it is a perfect time to look at our previous year and see what we would like to let go and purify and what 'new seeds we would like to sow.' This is a time of balance between the physical and the spiritual. A time to look at our lives and see what is blocking us and what can be called in. "Whatever seeds are sown in the fall season will come to fruition by the following fall." This is a time of transition where energy is being drawn inwards to cleanse the heart so that a new birth can unfold at the time of the winter solstice. I meant to actually post about this a few days ago so you guys would have more time to prepare! but basically the few days before the equinox is a great time to spend more time in meditation and in nature reflecting on your past year and what you want to let go of before you enter a new phase of inner work and planting, so to speak. So if you would like to come tomorrow night and ritually honor your intentions, that would be wonderful and we would love to have you! we will light a fire and both john and I are going to write down what we want to release and give it to the flames to be transformed and lifted up. It's up to you if you would like to do that! I always find it much more powerful when I place intentions and really make an effort to show what i'd like to work on both in my mind and physically acknowledging the elements working alongside me.
Most of what I typed here came from my book "Nature Speak" by Ted Andrews in the section about the Autumn Equinox. There's also a great visual meditation in this chapter I might actually type in here for you guys in a min because I found it very helpful and powerful.
